Production agriculture remains a highly dangerous industry with a fatality rate at least seven-times greater than all other industries combined. “Farm safety” efforts are not new – yet they have been only marginally effective. Information about and illustrations of applications of the “safety hierarchy” will be shared in this session. For many in AgrAbility roles, this will be a new way of framing workplace safety and health promotion efforts in ways more likely to be impactful, hopefully resulting in less risk, fewer injuries, and healthier farmers, workers and family members.
