Are you a Veteran who is interested in gardening, or likes working with plants or animals in a farming setting, or are you interested in starting your own farm? The Madison VA FARMS pilot program offers Veterans pathways to participate in both therapeutic gardening and agricultural vocational training.
The VA FARMS program has partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Madison College to provide formal agricultural training, and has partnered with existing farm sites and agricultural businesses in the community to provide hands-on work skills training through transitional work experiences and farming mentorships. Veteran participants have access to Madison Veterans Hospital care, to include but not limited to services in: Vocational Rehabilitation–Compensated Work Therapy, Mental Health, Primary Care, Occupational Therapy, Food and Nutrition, and Whole Health services.
